Ego is falsely associated with selfishness. Arrogance too. A truly egoistic person can be the most caring one because they view the people that they value as an extension of their own body, therefore they share the same feelings. Ego is neither good nor bad. If you dont have it, you are doing everything for the sake of things that are alien and abstract to you like “common good”, “peace” etc. My point being nothing is good or bad. I prefer an egoist who is my enemy than an “empath” who is my friend. Having ego is being present in the moment, seeking power, seeking survival. It is best one realizes that as soon as possible, for their own sake.

I say this as a useless person, without studying anything, but I don't blame myself because I have my reasons. My arguments will be vague and seem like those of an average person on social media. 1) Arrogance is necessary when you start to understand people and how they usually operate. You realize that when you do something that the average person doesn't bother to take a look at, you are the one who has taken the first step. I think arrogance should always come from one's own work, and I also think that people who have achieved something thru others who have facilitated it for them, when they gain more experience, feel frustration. This is always true as long as you have your morals and values. For example, a writer who has no ideas but knows how to write very well uses AI to generate a title or the summary of a story. The book ends up doing well even tho they used 2% of AI. Still, they feel a "guilt" because everyone is criticizing the use of AI and saying that the story doesn't really belong to them. But they endure it. On the other hand, if a person lacks value or morals, they will end up having that arrogance that their work has reached a large audience and that it was all their merit when in reality, if it weren't for AI, they wouldn't even know what title to give it, even if its use was MINIMAL. Returning to the initial point, when you have more experience and understand how everything works and you already have something to feel valuable about, that arrogance will be necessary so that bad people or the desperate don't take advantage of you and try to take away what you have of value.2 is very difficult but it shouldn't be ruled out, I would say it's almost impossible, you have to be a very good person and you have to have that kindness in your blood from the beginning, or you need to have a very high intelligence that makes you question existence in general or philosophical issues, or finally, be someone who has a lot of knowledge about science or topics like philosophy, knowing all those subjects so well that without being intelligent, you start asking questions that transcend even human capabilities and bring you back to the same dilemma, +

1. arrogance is admired and similarly decried because its positive expression can be the ultimate virtue, like a child not stepping on bugs simply because they realise they're infinitely superior. we all crave the feeling of superiority, because from that place true benevolence is possible. so often seen as a vice if someone is stupid enough to misuse it. so more often a vice because of the selfish fallibility power can install in an average idiot. 2. greatness breeds pride as a certainty, because it's based on actual power which by definition makes you justified in feeling proud. only the powerful idiot misunderstands pride for infallibility and invincibility, the truly intelligent see that the floor is riddled with gaping holes wherever you step, so... 3. it depends on how intelligent you are and your motivations. if your idea of power is simply wallowing in excess rather than pushing yourself to achieve, you're screwed from the beginning. to grasp power is to understand it, and most people unfortunately do not. so depends, i guess. 4. simply because everyone wants to be superior and powerful and not bound by the humiliations of survival and inevitable death. we all want to be immortal and the closest to immortality we have is transcendental greatness. 5. the line is whether you just want to whack off to your image or you want to affect reality and understand the tools you have that you can use that others don't. basically what are your ambitions and level of self delusion. 6. nobody owes anyone anything but not to harm them so they don't harm you. no such thing as selfless altruism. arrogance can be honesty if coupled with actual intelligence and being brutally clear-eyed about what you are. otherwise it's just fantasy fulfillment to stave off the inevitably of death. 7. again depends on the person's capabilities and insight and motivations. arrogance with complete self-confidence is extremely rare and the sign of true greatness. true greatness comes from a powerful person choosing benevolence over committing mass harm. if someone's dangerous enough to be insecure and powerful we're all f#cked.

I agree with most of what they said, but why do they believe they are better than most people is it money, knowledge, skills , fame I don’t mean this as an insult just curious. For most people arrogance isn’t really useful in day to day life and it’s usually a byproduct of being great or stupid

humility feels like what everyone expects from a great leader. But when they see their arrogance, their ego? They admire it, because that's when that said leader shows what's been brewing inside of them that has been covered up by the expected. Although it is possible, most of the times the humble ones are only putting a facade so they can be loved more. But in reality, they think they're better because they KNOW they're better than the people they rule over. Unfortunately, that goes way too much into they're head and eventually that's why they meet their demise early. I feel like the people that actually have the qualities to be a leader ( that being a balance between pride and humility ) actually hide themselves from that power, because history has shown that no great leader has ended in a way that their country didn't hate them or being overwhelmed by their pride and making the mistake that costs them their life.
