I highly recommend the young adult SciFi/dystopian novel RUNNING OUT OF TIME by Margaret Peterson Haddix - it’s Jessie Keyser, a girl living in a seemingly 1840s frontier village called Clifton, Indiana, who discovers it's actually a 1996 tourist attraction and a scientific experiment. When a diphtheria epidemic strikes, her mother reveals the truth and sends Jessie on a dangerous mission to escape the village and find modern medicine to save the children, forcing her to confront a strange and threatening new world. The book, published in 1995, is the first in a series, followed by Falling Out of Time.
