Scott Erickson testified he never told his friend and fellow retired Major League Baseball player Royce Clayton that he and Rebecca Grossman were racing their vehicles before Grossman hit and killed two young brothers in a crosswalk. Attorney Brian Panish questioned him on Friday about what exactly he and Clayton discussed in their four minute and 18 second phone call shortly after the crash.
"By the way, did you ask about baseball games that night? What were you talking about for the other four minutes plus?" Panish asked. "Just the current situation," Erickson answered. "What current situation?" Panish asked. "That Rebecca is being pulled over by the police. The police were there, and she's being —" Erickson answered. "But you said you didn't say anything else about it. That's what you said when Mr. Braun questioned you this morning. The only thing you said was 'something terrible happened don't come.' That was it. Remember that?" Panish asked. "Yes," Erickson answered. "Well, what happened for the other four minutes?" Panish asked. "Nothing. We were discussing —" Erickson said. "Now the Dodgers were doing? Were you talking about that?" Panish asked. "I don't recall what we talked about, other than the fact that the police were there, and Rebecca was with the policeman," Erickson answered. "For four minutes and 18 seconds, isn't that right, sir?" Panish asked. "Yes," Erickson answered. "And you don't remember anything other than you told him not to come, right?" Panish asked. Erickson's lawyer Jeff Braun said the question misstates the testimony, but Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Huey Cotton overruled and Erickson answered, "Correct." "Is that right?" Panish asked. "That is correct," Erickson answered. That doesn't misstate your testimony, does it?" Panish asked. "I don't understand," Erickson said. Erickson finished testifying on Friday (May 22). You can watch all his testimony on my YouTube channel. The trial continues on Tuesday (May 26) with more testimony from defense witnesses. #law #court #driving #attorney
