Due to unavoidable circumstances, Mama Yvonne Chaka Chaka was unable to attend in person. She sent a video message to thank the Thamani Africa Awards Secretariat and celebrate the honour. The award was received on her behalf by *Ms. Mbula, COO of Tena Kata*. The Board of Directors highlighted her enduring legacy — from chart-topping anthems that defined a generation to her sustained advocacy for health, education, and women’s empowerment across Africa. “We celebrate you today, and always,” the board said in its tribute. The award cements Chaka Chaka’s status as both a cultural icon and a force for social change — a voice that has carried Africa’s story to the world since the 1980s.
