@alaskandippedinaloha: Sometimes grief does not arrive as crying. Sometimes it arrives as a memory passing quietly through the body… and suddenly realizing you had been holding your breath. Today carried weight. The kind that settles into the ribs without permission. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, my soul reached backward toward Jon — not in panic, not even in longing exactly, but in remembrance. I miss that love. Not because it was loud or dramatic. But because my body felt safe inside it. Because I could exhale. Because being seen did not cost me my nervous system. A love so deep, my soul still remembers the feeling of safety inside it. And there, with the horses, with the wind moving through the grass, with their soft eyes resting against mine, my body finally breathed again. Not because the grief disappeared. Not because life suddenly became easier. But because love — real love — still exists in me. I think that’s what this moment held. Not sadness. Not performance. Just a woman remembering that she was once loved in a way that taught her soul how to breathe. And maybe that’s why the memory came today.
