It’s very normal to baptise babies in Norway. I was baptised, but my parents aren’t religious. It’s also seen as a tradition.

This has everything to do with strong unions fighting to give us shorter work days, 25 days vacation and an additional bunch of public holidays.

The best thing is that it's always on a Thursday, so it's not a holiday that can land on a Saturday or Sunday like the 1st or 17th of May. And since I work in a school the Friday after is always off too, so I get a long weekend.

I live in Finland and we usually do ~10 day summer camp led by priest where we are taught bible things and then after that we do the confirmation in church and after church we go have a party with invited relatives & family friends and they give gifts. I skipped the summer camp thing and instead spent that 10 days every day in church learning bible things.

we like holidays because it's a free day off and if it's on a Tuesday or Thursday, a lot of people take the Monday or Friday off to get a 4 day holiday
