This method will not be 100% reliable for several reasons. First, if there is no electrical current present in a circuit, the device will not be able to detect or activate anything. A light or indicator cannot operate without actual voltage or current applied to the circuit. Second, many electronic components do not receive full operating voltage until they are triggered by a relay, transistor, MOSFET, or control signal. In many circuits, transistors may have power entering them, but they will not pass or release current until the proper activation condition is met. Because of this, the device may not accurately determine whether a component is defective or functioning normally. A transistor or controlled component could appear inactive even when it is working exactly as designed. For that reason, relying entirely on this type of device can lead to incorrect diagnoses. The most reliable approach is still the traditional method: testing components individually with proper diagnostic tools such as a multimeter, oscilloscope, or dedicated component tester. I have been repairing electronic equipment of all types for over 45 years, and in my experience, direct testing remains the most accurate and dependable method of troubleshooting.
