It is located in Diqing, Yunnan, with an average altitude of 3,380 meters. Nestled at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet, it lies in the core area of the Three Parallel Rivers. In 1933, British writer Hilton depicted an eternal land blessed with snow-capped mountains, grasslands and lakes in Lost Horizon, making Shangri-La a global symbol of a hidden paradise. Yunnan officially confirmed the real location as Zhongdian in 1997, which was formally renamed Shangri-La in 2001. Home to Songzanlin Monastery, Napa Lake and Dukezong Ancient Town, every step reveals a stunning view. It is a pure land on earth, hailed as the secret realm closest to paradise.
