in season four Mike explained that he was struggling with his relationship with El because he wasn't the protector there, he wasn't the hero, he was lois lane 😭 he feels the best when he's allowed to be the leader, when he's strong and assertive and making the plan and carrying it out. byler works so well because Will gives that power up to Mike and he views Mike as a paladin and a protector, he lets Mike take that leader role and be the heart 😭🙏 yeah he's a loser but they're all losers and Mike is still the leader to them

Yea I’ve noticed a lot of people see Mike as weak when he canonically isn’t and takes on a more protective role both physically and emotionally. There’s a reason why miwi were so attached to each other in season 2

people forget that both of them are strong and also nerdy. they try to beat stereotypes by making will much more forward than he is and mike totally useless. mike is much more confident too, he leads and makes plans for the group like it's nothing. will can be capable but shy and flustered at the same time!
