I wanted to share my opinion on this topic because for months I mostly ignored Timebomb fans just to support Lightcannon fans after all the hate we got once Timebomb became “canon.” So don’t be annoying and say I’m obsessed with them when this is literally only the second video where I talk about them and shippers in general. Let’s start with you Timebomb fans. It’s impossible for you to accept that some people simply don’t like the ship and you keep saying it’s not fanservice. I personally never liked Timebomb from the start because I always saw them as a brother-sister type of duo, completely platonic. And even after they became “canon,” I still don’t like them, and I’ll explain why. Throughout both seasons Jinx never really thinks about Ekko or talks about him like he matters to her. Jinx is someone who constantly thinks about the people she cares about, like Vi, Silco, Vander, and many others. But with Ekko? Nothing. She literally saw him get shot by Marcus in season 1 and had almost no reaction. She only cared about the gemstone he had, like she genuinely didn’t care about him at all. She never shows any real interest in him in general. But then suddenly in the artbook she’s obsessed with him? That feels like pure fanservice to me. They had to make like 90% of this ship’s content outside the actual show, like the music video, because they knew they couldn’t properly make it work inside the show itself. They knew Jinx didn’t care that much about him. The only times Jinx actually shows interest in Ekko are outside the canon show, which is why they had to make an entire episode where Ekko meets an alternate, “better” version of Jinx and give them romantic moments there. Because they knew it was the only way to make the ship have believable moments together. It could never really happen naturally in the main universe because Jinx simply doesn’t care that much about Ekko. They easily could’ve added scenes where she thought about him, especially since Jinx seems to become a better person in season 2, but they didn’t. And don’t bring up deleted Timebomb scenes because one of them is literally her slapping him, and in others Ekko looks at her while she doesn’t even look back at him. Again proving she doesn’t really care about him. They had TWO interactions in the entire show and their relationship was handled in one of the worst ways possible, especially for Ekko’s character. He basically became Jinx’s dog, the one who had to go to her, forgive her, and help her. And it’s unfair because why does HE have to do all that when SHE caused most of the damage between them? They didn’t even make Jinx apologize to Ekko or show real remorse for everything she did to him over the years, even though Jinx was capable of showing remorse and empathy toward Caitlyn, someone she barely even knew. That’s why I think Timebomb was clearly forced to satisfy fans. They could’ve done better if they had more seasons, but by choosing to only make two they ruined everything. Timebomb is not a perfect ship. Stop blaming people who dislike it like they have no reason to feel that way. I want to finish by saying this was not made to attack every single Timebomb fan. I know not all of you are toxic. This was made to respond to all the people who spent months attacking me and other fans just because we don’t like Timebomb. I just want people to understand that others are not wrong for disliking the ship. My explanation is not unreasonable. You’re allowed to like it, it’s not the first forced ship to exist, but that doesn’t mean everyone is required to love it too.
