@historicallagos: Standing quietly on Odunfa Street, Lagos Island, this historic structure ,popularly known as Ebun House holds a special place in the architectural story of colonial Lagos. Built in 1913, it is remembered as one of the earliest three-storey residential buildings in the city, a striking symbol of early modern urban development in Nigeria. Over time, it also became known by local names such as “Petesi Anduru” and “Ile Awo shi Fila”, reflecting how deeply it was woven into community identity, memory, and oral tradition. By the 1970s, when this image was captured, the building already stood as a quiet witness to decades of change from colonial Lagos to independence, and into a rapidly modernising city. Its walls carried echoes of evolving lifestyles, commerce, and the unique blend of indigenous and colonial architectural influences that defined Lagos Island. Lagos history in the buildings that have endured time, telling stories of ambition, adaptation, and continuity. #HistoricalLagos #LagosIsland #NigerianArchitecture #ColonialLagos #LagosHeritage

Andrew’s house 🏠, standing on odunfa/swamp street. Got burnt in the early 90s or late 80s. One of the most historical house 🏠 on the island as said by the writer.
