“Doctor: Do you want me to remember? Kal'tsit: ... Things often have two sides. Human emotions are the same. Kal'tsit: I did not hide my hatred for you in the past but... No matter how much I want to admit it, not all of them is hatred.” even if they did retain all their memories, even if they’re the same person, they can become someone better. This conversation between Kal and Doc shows despite their history, not all of them were terrible and she sees a possibility the Doctor can change to become a different person entirely.
