Effects on society - the bill we all pay later 1. Street recruitment: Idle, hungry, uneducated boys are the first people bandits, drug dealers, and extremist groups recruit. Not because they’re evil. Because they were ignored first. 2. Crime & violence: “Desperation beats wisdom.” When survival is the only goal, theft, thuggery, drug peddling become logic, not choice. 3. Economic loss: Nigeria loses millions in potential. That boy could’ve been an electrician, coder, farmer. Instead he becomes a cost to police, hospitals, prisons. 4. Cycle repeats: Abandoned boys grow into fathers who don’t know how to parent. So they abandon again. The cycle is generational. 3. The spiritual/cultural wound The North prides itself on _tarbi_yya_ — upbringing, character, responsibility. But mass child abandonment breaks that.
