first ever heard the last movement of the 9th symphony in uni, I was sobbing uncontrollably, so much emotion and depth in what was Gustav Mahlers farewell to the world as he knew he was dying and hearing this got to me

Always through this was reminiscent of Symphony 3’s finale, with him choosing love over fear. Same vibe as Song of the Earth too. Heart breaking, but optimistic!
