I used to manage the 401(k) benefits at a former job. I would practically have to beg the employees to enter into the 401(k) to get free money and a tax referral! It would blow my mind!

Now that I’m in my 50’s, my yearly earnings from 401k are higher than my yearly salary. And that’s with a very late start. If I had started earlier, I would have fully retired at 55 or earlier.

You can do Roth conversions. Need to check on how to do it for your own situation. I am 70 and have 90% in a Roth.

The bottom line is, if you're not investing into your retirement you're irresponsible! ROTH is better than Traditional but EITHER will put you in a better spot than having nothing! People, you will not work forever! With most companies having a match, it is almost TOO easy to hit $1 mill in 30 years. Do not be irresponsible and leave this burden to you kids to figure out HOW to take care of you when you're no longer able to physically work.
