@abbeyskitchen: Can swishing sugar and carbs in your mouth boost your workout? There is some evidence behind this sports nutrition hack, but it might not be what you think. #workoutfuel #carbs #nutrition #sportnutrition
I'm sure my teeth will love being bathed in sugar regularly.

Uff, I remember the teen magazines my mom used to get me in the 90s/early 00s recommending the same thing, but with food. To stay thin. 😬

This sounds similar to the placebo effect. I am a recovering alcoholic, and I felt like crap if I went more than a day without drinking. The moment I knew I was going to start drinking, I started feeling better.

lol I’m simply going to EAT a little bit of candy and other simple carbs before I lift. It’s fun and gives you a great workout

I always appreciate your actual educated knowledge! As someone on a weight loss journey there are so many content creators and “experts” that make really confusing and misleading videos. 💗

Very useful effect for people who enjoy endurance , like when running ultras many people hit a point where they just instantly vomit up any extra food taken on board. A carb mouth rinse might be the perfect thing for the last push

While running, I was told to swish around my Gatorade/electrolyte drink while drinking so that it would get in the salivary glands and help activate faster. I think it worked but this just sounds dumb.

Me on the elliptical with my water bottle and a spit cup 😳 but like do any of the studies track repeated use of this trick, it would be interesting to know if the body adapts to this bait and switch, seems like besides all the other things wrong with this, it would also have diminished returns??
I think people should keep in mind 3-7% is fuck all. If you're doing 10 reps of 30kg, you could do an extra 0.3 or 0.7 reps or increase the weight to 30.9-32.1kg. Or if you can run for 30 minutes straight, you can expect an extra 2 minutes tops

In ED treatment we called that chew and spit. We didn't do that to increase performance, instead to not binge after starving. I don't recommend, it's insane. Pls get help when you're struggling with food.
