I describe it as a "memory pool" We all have our own "memory pools" and memories thay go in those are what cause amnesia (which is rare.) All other memories go in the communal memory pool for everyone to access. Its super confusing and while it allows us to function as one fairly cohesive person, it also makes it REALLY hard to accept being a system.

I’ve often described my memories like data injected into my brain from an outside source. For those old enough, the movie Total Recall made way to much sense to me 😳 A good chunk of my memories just feel like they are someone elses that I’m just borrowing for the info, without any emotional involvment.

“A file you can read without it touching you” is like.. all of my memories lol. A previous therapist I had said I talk like my memories happened to somebody else.

omg I've never felt so seen this is incredible. episodic memory is like 70% shared across everyone living upstairs, but something I've described as emotional amnesia is nearly 100% total. I can't reach emotions across switches, even for super traumatic things. I generally remember things semantically but it's like I forgot what emotions were happening. same recognition for switches as a physical sensation: they feel like vertigo and a change in air pressure around my brain. wicked video tysm

I've described it as like turning a kaleidoscope; New pieces come into focus while others shift away, the perspective is similar but distinctly different.

do people with did experience this too? (gonna get a diagnosis soon but) for so long I've thought I had did and I do switch and have since as early as.i can remember, days months and hours gone but as of the last few years I've been switching with blackouts less or more really at all. I experience a lot of co consciousness and have been relating to OSDD content more and more then did content. I am in way safer environment and maybe that's why I'm not switching as hard as before, I still experience gray out dissociative episodes and experience a lot of what this video talks about. I just can't wrap my head around the difference as of late

hi. im having troubles, and considering you know a lot more than i do, id like to ask a question. can a monoconcious system become polyconcious, and how?
in this case, by monoconcious i mean a system having one string of concious, thoughts being shared instead of private, and in general a closer bond between alters (at least in my experience.) polyconcious would be seperate thoughts, having to communicate them directly and more privacy in that way. of course it'd include more amnesia but i really just want my thoughts to be private, as do some others.
any help?

Alot of times we can talk to each other. We worked hard to have a common room so we can all be there.

I'm not sure if I have a dissociative disorder but like... this is relatable 🫠 can the switching between parts feel like I'm pulling on a weighted blanket and tinted glasses? does that make sense? like I'm still there and in control but there's an outer shell around me?

One thing I’ve noticed when I switch is I’ll go from really focused to a super fog and I’ll start saying “I don’t know” a bunch even if it doesn’t exactly make sense as a reply. It feels like shifting a car from drive into reverse without stopping first.

i always feel our switches as a physical feeling of a fog wrapping around our mind, like a haze is settling over us until we find out bearings and for the longest time because we didn’t experience a lot of memory loss we just.. told ourselves we couldn’t be a system.

This makes a lot of sense for us. Sometimes we don’t really realize we have basically been switching until well after the fact because it feels more blurred at times and it’s difficult to distinguish who is actually fronting. I’m almost always at the front in some capacity, but it can absolutely feel like one or more of us at the same time with very little separation. It’s a difficult sensation to describe.

this is more relatable to us, we have DID and never related to the "losing time" thing
