@leahshomestead: Most people want results fast… but homesteading has taught us that some of the best things take years before you ever see a harvest. 🌱 Some of our tropical trees produced quickly, others are taking 5–7 years, but we keep planting anyway. Because a lot of this lifestyle is learning patience, consistency, and trusting the process long before you “see” the reward. And honestly… walking into a greenhouse in an Ohio winter and picking tropical fruit still feels a little unreal. 🍋🍌
The best time to plant a fruit tree is 10 years ago. The second best time is right now. Things take time, if you want fruit from your trees then you have to start the process at some point so why not now

I wish I had started planting fruit trees when I was in my 30’s. I wasn’t in that frame of mind at that age. Now I’m 60 and wondering if it is worth it. If I thought my children would live on our land, I would absolutely get started. Actually did get started. I planted two peach trees last year. I’m going to plant apple trees this year hopefully

Why did you not pick a southern state for year round sustainability rather than Oh no Ohio
