@americankenpo: Tbh, it’s challenging to focus on everything we’re actually supposed to be developing. We get so locked into smooth motion flow, rhythmic timing, manipulation, targeting, sequence continuity, and cause-and-effect relationships that we sometimes forget the most important thing in Ed Parker’s American Kenpo: Intent changes motion. A check should never mentally become “just a check.” The mindset behind it should still carry the intent of a strike, disruption, or positional control. Sometimes Mr. K shifts the intent away from destruction and into smooth speed flow to show us how to practice timing, targeting, transitions, body mechanics, angle relationships, and the efficient marriage of motion through the sequence of the technique. That practice develops coordination, adaptability, and principle-based movement. But in real-life application, the goal is never endless movement. The goal is always efficiency. Concepts and principles first. Biomechanics and kinesiology applied through motion. Economy of motion. Structural alignment. Torque. Timing. Flow. All working together so the first intentional strike has the highest probability of ending the threat. The flow is practice. The intent is reality. One develops skill. The other develops consequence. #americankenpo #intent #rhythm #speed #fiveswords
