@roisin.healthtea: There's an old Irish tree people were once afraid to cut down! our ancestors didn't just admire it… they respected it! The hawthorn or whitethorn 🌿 Every May, its flowers bloom across hedgerows all over Ireland. Branches were hung over doorways for protection It was known as the May tree, deeply tied to Bealtaine! And lone trees were believed to belong to the fairies. Don't cut these down if you know whats good for ya! People literally wouldn’t touch them But it isn't just folklore… hawthorn flowers are also traditionally used to support the heart ❤️ Protective, healing… and a little bit feared! And now? Most of us pass it every day without even noticing it! We didn’t lose these traditions… we just stopped being taught them #selfhealing #homeremedies #hawthorn #IrishHistory
