@dr.zionko: name was part of the problem… despite the word “polycystic,”, it’s not really about “cysts.” Most patients don’t have true cysts at all and that alone has lead to confusion, delayed diagnoses and unnecessary stigma. And more importantly, this isn’t just an ovarian issue. It’s a complex, whole-body condition involving hormones, metabolism, skin, mental health and more. The label “PCOS” has shaped how we been approaching it for decades, often narrowing the focus to fertility, while missing the bigger picture like insulin resistance (5-7x higher risk of type 2 diabetes), elevated androgens, inflammation, and long-term metabolic risk… changing the name alone doesn’t solve the problem but maybe it’s a step forward? What do you think? #pcos #womenshealth #pmos

i wish they kept them separate things. PCOS feels like the new stamp for any hormonal issues. I have literal massive cysts on my ovaries but no insulin resistance. how in the world is that the same as someone with no cysts and metabolic issues ???
