I'm sad to see that many people dislike Addison because she cheated on Derek, but they both knew their marriage was in terrible shape. Derek himself admitted it, but it was Addison who made the first mistake in the relationship. Even so, she went after him trying to reconcile the marriage. She gave him two options: either they divorced or they tried again, and he wanted to try again. But he did everything but try to save the marriage. He treated Addison like trash, even though HE was the one who chose to try again. Nobody forced him to do anything, and yet he was an idiot to Addison, even though she showed that she was the one making an effort. So I'm making excuses for Addison, and I prefer her with Meredith.

I think they had a kind of respectful rivalry/ competition…each admired and wanted something the other had. They both saw themselves as powerful women, yet still openly praised one another, which made their dynamic feel surprisingly humble and grounded.
