Unpopular opinion, I never changed any of my 5 children on a public changing table. We always went to the car.

My special needs son is 17 and still wears diapers. You need to take a deep breath first of all. The world doesn’t stop for you and your child. You will have to figure out ways to make it work for you. Like changing him in the car. Be thankful you can still go out with him. My son can’t walk and doesn’t have any meaningful movement. He requires a Hoyer lift to get him out of bed. I can’t take him anywhere except for a doctor’s appointment. There will always be people who have it worse than you. Turn it into something positive. Maybe advocate for some of your favorite businesses to put in a special needs changing table.

There's just no way for businesses to accommodate for every single need humans have. I wish there was an easier answer. I teach special ed and so many accommodations are truly essential, but there's just no way to make them all happen in public.

I was born with cerebral palsy, in 1975, BEFORE the ADA laws were rolled out meaning wheelchair ramps, and ADA bathrooms weren’t thought of.. my mom navigated all that you can do it too.. you adapt to the world the world doesn’t need to adapt to you..

12 years special education in public schools. We change all ages/all levels/ on the floors with padded mats. Public extra large changing tables is a big ask 🤷‍♀️
