These are not my words as it was a comment on a previous monster’s inc edit and I think it is perfect so id like to share “Mike is what happens to us when we put all the effort in and don’t get any results or praise. The efforts feel like they are bare minimum. While Sully who was born with the talent and didn’t have to work for anything. Got the praise, attention, love that he wanted. He didn’t have to train, he didn’t have to work. The beauty in the lesson Monster Inc provides isn’t how to become scary. But how to understand what makes us scared. The straight A intelligent student but non scary Mike Wasoski learning from the loved and praised but still fearful Sully who in vise versa learns from Mike. It shows us that nobody is perfect. No matter how much horns you have on your head. No matter how much razor sharp teeth. No matter how loud your roar is. What makes us special isn’t our talent. But our uniqueness and flaws in our character. What others may seem as a mistake or pointless, might actually be useful or a leverage for yourself. This movie shows that when the world judges us for being different. It’s best to embrace our uniqueness, not to prove to the world. But to prove to our selves, and the ones that believed and loved you from the beginning. This movie speaks without saying out-loud that special isn’t about looks our talent. But about belief. As long as you can find what you believe makes you special. Then you can embrace your true nature. Not a fake, not a mask, not a disguise, but the real you. All you have to do is find it.
