@madmelliemel1: #stitch with @CdnPunk🍁🍉 colonial action has not ended, it’s rebranded. It affects all of us #traditionalfoods #environmentalprotection #IndigenousRights #cumulativeeffects
💯 percent correct. It never seems to improve. Our yt race refuses to listen to the wise words and advice of our Indigenous brothers and sisters. Honestly it makes me hang my head in shame.

Absolutely happens everywhere. One of the most visible examples is in the Caribbean. Anyone who has left a resort, knows this is actively happening.
The food system down there is majorly thwarted by the usa.

My grandmother remembers walking into Canada in the late 1900s and seeing stacks of carcasses that where is high as three stories she said. That was Alberta. She regularly discussed. How devastating to the indigenous population she thought that was then. Not much has changed. Our water source so depleted I’m afraid for my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.

A coworker & her husband depended on wildlife for sustenance near Prince George. I do not know if they were indigenous but her 3rd child was full-term but stillborn & horribly deformed. Drs posited it was from her diet & possible contamination bcc they could find no other genetic reasons.

The toxic disconnection-We’re poisoning ourselves in the pursuit of dominance to stave off insignificance. Instead of simply cooperating. Solidarity 🧡 is our only way to heal. 💚

And moose populations are higher than they’ve ever been, 20 years ago moose were only found in Northern provincial forests and now there are hunting seasons for moose and elk in most of the farmland throughout Alberta and SASKATCHEWAN

So true! This capitalism continues ecological damage and species decline 'til this day. I know Fort Chipewyan and Grassy Narrows come to my mind. We absolutely need more solidarity for our collective wellbeing, mother earth and future generations. Thank you for sharing 🧡

The consultations are so critical and not always the "veto" that politicians want the public to believe. In can be a negotiation on how land is managed to have less of an impact. In other cases, the North coast for example, the push back is a matter of the risk being too high to be feasible. Risk levels differ and First Nations, due to their traditions and way of life, are naturally more in tune with the land. They are the greatest resource of knowledge during environmental impact assessments (I will die on this hill).
