@earthlinghouse: In my last reel, I asked why I place old rotten logs at the base of my fruit trees… and honestly, some of your answers were brilliant 😅 The most popular guesses were: • To feed the soil • Fungal support • Water retention • Wildlife habitat • Aesthetics And then there were the more creative answers: • “A place for faeries to sit” 🧚 • “For internet likes” • Erosion control • “To give back after taking fruit from the trees” • “Because you’re lazy” 😂 The truth is… all of these answers were correct in some way. My goal is to mimic the conditions of a natural forest ecosystem. As the logs slowly rot, they: • Feed the soil • Retain moisture • Support fungi and microbes • Create wildlife habitat • Improve aesthetics • And help build healthier, more resilient trees over time This is one of the core ideas behind permaculture. Nature already knows how to build healthy systems. We just have to pay attention. 🌱 #Permaculture #FoodForest #SoilHealth #GardenEcology #NatureInspired
love this. we've had to cut trees on our land after storm eowyn now we have a reason to just leave em be. not that I actually needed a reason but now I have an explanation 😅
