I struggle a lot with not knowing what to say and not saying enough because I don’t think whatever I’m thinking about has any value to the other person. The starter guide (particularly the section “how we connect: feelings, experiences, and values”, but all of it really) taught me *where the value is* in what I’m thinking about, and therefore what is appropriate and useful to say, and how to frame things so people appreciate them. It was a really simple change in perspective that feels obvious in retrospect, but no one had ever managed to explain it in a way that made it click before. It’s not like I suddenly became a skilled conversationalist after reading it, but I do feel like I understand how and why conversation works a lot better. I think Anthony’s starter guide provides a good base to build future skills of off.

I have tried to ask questions and it just didn't work and felt forced, often I know nothing about a topic and I know they aren't interested in other topics if bring up. I don't think such a person is a good friend for sure, but I still need to have successful interactions with such people. also I struggle with actually making friends as in hey let's hang out etc.
