I'm 13 and I started learning when I was 10 and now I can speak 9 languages and Morse code and sign language (Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Chinese,British, English, and Tagalog)

Immersion works because your brain stops translating and starts thinking in the language. The challenge is making it stick outside of dedicated study time, that's where most people drop off.

Please don’t call me stupid, I am genuinely curious. If immersion works, how are you supposed to know what it means? Like I can listen to let’s say Italian videos, movies, music, podcasts and still not know what it means? Pronunciation may be good but understanding is still not. How can I learn without learning by translation. I still would have to memorize translations. If that makes any sense. I can watch a video over and over and repeat it but still not be able to tell you what they are talking about. Can anyone who knows other languages and has done this Explain that to me? I wanna learn other languages, but it seems so hard. I feel like I have tried all of the ways to and still struggle so much. I’m 22 btw.
