@betterthroughbetrayal: Apparently this is “extreme” but honestly… the amount of trauma cheating causes is wild. People act like betrayal is just a little relationship mistake meanwhile some betrayed partners end up with panic attacks, insomnia, anxiety, depression, hypervigilance, trust issues, intrusive thoughts, and a nervous system that feels permanently stuck in survival mode. And before the comments of “it’s not that deep” or “get over it there’s bigger problems” But some of you seriously underestimate the damage betrayal causes. And we need to start treating it as a serious crime. People get charged for robbery because they stole something valuable. So what do you call it when someone steals years of your life, your ability to trust, your self-worth, your peace, your memories, your sense of reality, and the future they promised you? People get charged for mxrder because they kxlled someone. So what do you call it when someone slowly kxlls another person’s spirit while looking them in the eyes pretending to love them? No, cheating may not physically kxll someone… but it absolutely kxlls parts of them. Their confidence. Their peace. Their sense of safety. Sometimes even the person they used to be. And let’s stop acting like it’s harmless when people are also risking their partner’s physical health by sleeping around behind their back. STDs, hidden affairs, secret double lives… that’s not just “a mistake.” That can alter someone’s life forever. What’s crazy to me is how normalized cheating has become. People destroy families, lie for months or years, gaslight their partner into feeling crazy, and then expect applause for finally telling the truth after getting caught. And the homewrecker defenders saying “they didn’t owe you loyalty” are missing the point entirely. You shouldn’t need marriage vows to have basic human decency. So no… I don’t think betrayal is some tiny harmless mistake society should just shrug off. The emotional destruction cheating causes is real. If betrayal left you questioning your worth, your sanity, or your ability to trust again… my free training is in my bîo. You’re not crazy for how deeply this affected you. 🤍 #affair #cheating #cheater #betrayal

that is a slippery slope. because what is cheating for some people, is not cheating for others.

First there has to be a clear legal definition of a relationship so this can really only be realistic for married couples

I get it. It hurts and it sucks but that’s just purely an emotional statement without much logic. Relationship dynamics come in many different forms and the idea of what “cheating” is, is dependent on the individuals’ boundaries. There are worse problems in the world than hurt feelings.

Michigan, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin still classify it as a felony, move to one of those states (and get married there) and you CAN make a case...penalty ranges from $ to up to 5 years in prison

Hahaha. Nope. Marriage is a civil contract. Violation of a civil contract is not and should not be criminal.
