I have a question i had a hermit crab (snow) that was molting in a very noticeable shell and my other hermit crab (bolt) whent under aswell a gew weeks after and the next day Snow crabs shell was on the surface but no crab :( and im worried bolt ate him and stole his shell cuz he is in a completely different shell now and his original shell is nowere to be found 🥹

I’ve had my hermit crabs for 2 years and one of them extremely sadly did not survive their last molt. Now I’m left with only one hermit crab. I tried posting to rehoming pages near me to see if any other hermit crab owners wanted an extra buddy or if anyone was looking to rehome theirs but I’ve came up with no luck. The pet stores near me also don’t have any and I feel really bad for my other hermit crab because he’s been without a buddy for like a year (I wanted to make sure he wasn’t molting before I went digging)… What should I do ://

My big guy took almost 4 months this last time and he literally grew probably 2.5 times the size be was before. Its crazy lol

So my hermit crab is molting and he’s not really under ground he’s in the corner but most of his shell is over the sand, there’s enough sand to burry down should I try covering him with some extra forage and moss or smth?

I have 3 newer hermit crabs, they’re pretty small. Two of them have been under for a little over 2 months. One of them are visible if you look behind the tank, his cave is against the back of the glass so you can see him if you really look for him which I’ve only done once recently bc I was getting nervous. He was somewhat moving around. I guess im just nervous if he can’t get out or if he’s just finishing molting. Only one of them have been active above the substrate and he’s completely fine

Hey Janie, I have had my hermit crabs coming on a year now this month and I rescued them from my local pet store. I have learned so much from you and before I bought them I made sure that I did my research and you were a huge help! so about a couple days after I got my hermit crabs settled into their enclosure one of my hermit crabs Sebastian went into molting and has never came up. I have watched some of your videos saying just to leave them be but I wanted your info on what I should do. It’s been about a year now and I don’t know if this is normal or not. If you could please respond, that would be great. Thank you!

I got four (40 gal tank with several heat pads and appropriate humidity) and all of them went straight under the ground I hear them digging at night sometimes but I haven't smelt anything yet and it's only been a few weeks
