Can we get this series of questions as a text file to print out and take with us to the museum?

My favourite painting is called Buried at Sea and I could stare at it for a very long time I love the details of the water, the ship, and the clouds in the sky

I once stared at a Rothko for so long the security guard went on break, came back, and was like, “Damn, you still here?”

I often like seeing the brushstrokes (intentional or not) and that human aspect beyond the image displayed. After that I like what’s in the image.

Drawing art from museums in my sketchbook has taught me so much. There is a restoration happening in Belgium Ghent alter and one of the restoration specialists said that after spend hundreds and hundreds of hours on this one artwork she now knows how the original artist from 600 years ago thinks

It would be so much fun to have a casual group at a park or a coffee shop to hear you talk about art this way.

the thing that moves me along most often is not wanting to hog the piece when other people are in the gallery.

I still remember my first visit to an art museum where I really paid attention. There was a Chuck Close exhibition, and I could not stop looking at his portraits. From across the room, up close, starting far and moving closer. I was fascinated by the shapes he used, the color combinations that created the overall effect. It completely transformed the way I view art.

My favourite things about seeing art in person are texture (or lack thereof) and scale. I definitely stare at texture and often get as close as i can without the guards getting mad. 😅 I also love being surprised by the scale of works I've seen in a book/poster/screen but then in person it's either way smaller or larger than I imagined.

When I was two my mom brought me to the MOMA when we visited New York and apparently I wouldn’t stop staring at Monet’s Les Nymphéas. And when I saw another one of the series in Paris at l’Orangeraie I realized that even as an adult I can spend so much time just looking at these paintings !

I have some Eyvind Earle prints that are just phenomenal, but when I saw the real ones in person, I really didn’t like how much texture the paint had. The idyllic greenery was suddenly chaotic and messy. Sometimes you see too much!
