The dry dipstick you pulled was for the differential. Subarus have the transmission dipstick on the drivers side under the brake master cylinder until they changed to CVT.

doesn't doesn't necessarily mean a blow head gasket could be the transmission oil mixing with the water in the radiator, that why the transmission not working, I've seen it before

Replace the Rad with a full Coolant flush and replace the Transmission Cooler. The sludge is it mixing into the Engine Coolant.
