Carry on only feels like freedom for me! I always have a hand free, I'm not bummed if a historic hotel has narrow stairs and no elevator and struggling to find plus size clothes when I could have spent the morning in a museum instead would be a bummer! I like to travel light, be flexible, relaxed and organized!

It’s not about keeping it all with me on the flights, it’s about traveling with less and being content with that. Overpacking is a shackle of privilege and u can’t convince me otherwise. I don’t think u have ever had a poor experience with lost luggage cuz this hot take is reading that. My last thought when I get to my destination is wrinkled clothes or too few options and having to waste any time, $$ or sanity buying new clothes, toiletries, etc should my luggage be lost is worth it. Call it mental insurance!

I use a hand carry size bag but I always check it. I need to have a small carry on for medical supplies and meds that need to stay with me. Otherwise, I’d just have my handbag. I once did 2 months 3 weeks with that carry on sized bag, with laundry. In 40 years of flying my bag has lagged behind five or less times and has never been totally lost.

Going overseas is when I would pack carry on …lugging big bags around Europe is the worst ..especially if ur going on trains !! Not to mention a lot of hotels in Europe do Not have elevators -big bags suck !

Hundreds of flights taken including international ….times lost, delayed, or broken=3. Put a change of underwear and bare bones needs in a small bag/purse that fits under the seat and CHECK THAT LUGGAGE!

I’ll always check my bag but I keep two changes of clothes and travel toiletries in a backpack on me. Just in case the worst case scenario happens I won’t have to buy emergency supplies.

The airlines disincentivize checking a bag by charging more and more. Checking a bag helps with chaos on the plane as well as on time scheduling.

Nope. I spent 10 days in Scotland last year and did carry on only. I’m going again this year carry on as well. It’s so much easier.
