Delena fans will say "she wanted him first" like that makes what he did to her so much of s1 okay. of course she was upset! delena was fan service that's why they wanted to get stefan and elena back together but nina left they couldn't. Damon was an interesting character I would of much rathered just seen him fix his relationship with stefan and had natural character growth. They didn't need Elena for that.

The difference between Caroline's situationship with Klaus was that she never forced him into her friends' lives; she knew it was wrong and was not proud of it. Elena wanted everyone to accept her relationship with Damon despite everything he did to her and her friends. This definitely not the same.
