You should NOT put vinegar straight in with the detergent. It should go in the rinse cycle.

I have an older machine with the middle piece to agitate cloths and that agitator has a hole to add fabric softener (which had a lot of gunk) will this work to clean the middle fabric softener section if yes how?

vinegar will destroy any clothes with elastic, nylon or spandex ie. bras, undies.only use with cotton

yup, so I pulled apart all the parts from the machine and cleaned the drain, and now its great, took 20 minutes, and cost almost no money 🙃

In 1985 I purchased a new Whirlpool washer. It was a workhorse for 28 years. It survived five moves (one over 2000 miles). During its duration, I did have to change the dog-ears out three times. It was easy to maintain and clean. I was lucky enough to find another one, same model, refurbished. Upon downsizing (getting older, a large house can become a lot to care for) and relocating for my final time, I was encouraged to leave it in the previous home when it sold. A regret. I now have a "handy-dandy" 🙄 front loader stackable and all that is connected with its constant issues. 😐 I haven't been happy with past tablet cleaners... I think these may be worth a try.

People also need to understand that if you keep using vinegar distilled or not, it eats way at the rubber gaskets no one talks about that it’s acidic and that’s what happens so be careful and be careful using it on your grout in your bathrooms

I get that part thanks. What about when you have a front loader but you’re concerned/smell is coming from the dispenser that you open to add the liquid detergent/softener? That is what smells in my washer, not the tub.

I bought a washer cleaner and yeah it did help, but there was still a smell. Come to find out it was the water, it was the same smell coming out of my sink faucet.

I was able to buy a brand new washer and dryer and I have NEVER used liquid fabric softener. I still use a tablet monthly.

I use the vinegar to rinse out leftover soap in my clothes in the rinse cycle, not to clean the washing machine. There’s cleaners for that.
