My brother spent most of his time with our overcaring mother, while I spent my time with my grandfather, who was a bicycle repairer, (lyricist for Vesak thoran, a good Checkers player too). I used to help him repair bicycles and earn some money at the end of each job (1 or 2 rupees at that time to buy some sweets). I had checkers games with him. My brother was more intelligent back then, and it was obvious because he passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam and got selected to Ananda College. But over time, he seemed to become unfocused and lazy. My brother had a stronger base (genes) but didn't utilize it. In the end, he didn't go to university in commerce stream, but I did it in Bio stream. So, based on my personal experience, I think you are right. Experiences we get in our childhood matters. Hope my experience help someone else too. Give your kids more experiences than unconditional love.
