I got a call for 3 strays and the caller was able to secure one of them before I got there. Found this Bull Terrier when I arrived and he was in terrible shape. He was extremely emaciated, panting heavily and drooling all over himself. The caller was so kind to give him food and water before I got there. He was so weak he couldn’t walk so I had to carry him back to my truck. Once on my truck I gave him more water and poured rubbing alcohol on his paw pads to help cool him down. He had a chain collar that was way too big and no microchip. After making sure he was stable, I toured the area to look for the other 2 dogs and did not find them. Back at the kennel I had our vet and staff examine him. We found his backside and buttocks COVERED in maggots 😰 we aren’t sure the cause. He was such a trooper during his exam while we gave him fluids and cleaned him up as best we could. No owner has come forward so Rupert was pulled by @Mutts in a Rut Rescue who took over his care. He is currently being hospitalized but once he’s ready he will go to a foster home where he can safely heal and recover.
