I remember one year I let all my nieces and nephews pick their XMAS gift for the first time (I usually just surprised them) One of my nephews (he turned 7 that year) said he wanted blankets. I was confused and said trust me. All I want is blankets. On Dec 25th he asked if I would take him somewhere, which I did. He said he saw a homeless family sharing a blanket a few weeks ago and he wanted to give them each their own blanket. He also gave them the money he collected on his birthday a week earlier. I watched him interact with them and I was someone proud of him. I hugged him so hard that day. I told him don't you ever lose that mindset. He said he never realized how good his life was until that day. To this day that memory makes me cry
