@fitnessingok: Women who grew up overweight, did you ever feel like you were not feminine enough because you were bigger than your peers? I have and I would like to hear from you as well! It was a very frustrating experience to grow up in an environment where I didn’t feel like I was perceived as a girl. I was always the funny one or the smart one or simply the “different” one because nobody wanted to admit it. How the society treated my body, all the things I heard from others have made me want to diminish myself, try to take up the least amount of space. If I could go back to highschool with what I know now, I would take up much more space. I would be fearless. I would be myself. So from now, that’s exactly how I want to live. If you’ve ever felt this way, let this be a reminder that you can take up all the space you need ❤️ #growingupfat #overweightwomen
Yes, and it didn't help that I'm also tall (178 cm)

as a kid i was invited to a costume birthday party where they were providing the costumes, none of the costumes fitted me except for the santa claus one. you can guess how i felt. it’s one of the most vivid memory i have were i realised i wasn’t really one of the "girls", that i wasn’t one. even today i don’t feel like im a included with women.

I was/am never seen that I can be pretty. When I dress well because I have a style sense and match everything, people I know give me compliments surprised not because I’m good looking but because I surprise them

This x100 combined with being an eldest daughter = often left feeling I lacked femininity 🥲 (and still struggling now)

100% and I was the tallest girl on my class, I’m not 5ft8. I’ve never been seen as cutsy or demure 🥲

Yes, in terms of high school nobody ever got an eye on me, and being shy didn’t help.

been tall and fat my whole life and not frequently seen as feminine, yeah. worked fine for me being nonbinary and ace, but not knowing either of those things about myself in my teens, it definitely hurt

I used to be tall and skinny, but I started gaining a lot of weight when I was like 15 years old because of depression, audhd and a food addition I developed. there is a huge difference in how people treated me when I was skinny vs. the way I look now.

oh yeah 100%. on top of being 178 cm (about 5'10 ish) it means only sweaters, hoodies, loose shirts and mom jeans for the most part. Only recently started being able to wear slightly cropped shirts and softer kind of fabric pants.

Yes. And I leaned into it because I wanted to fit in. Very hard to unlearn after 15 years.
