@curvysam: Replying to @Truckies wife Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for someone isn’t giving advice or trying to fix everything. Sometimes it’s just turning up with food so they don’t have to think for five minutes. I feel like we’re losing community a little bit. We’re becoming so individualistic that people disappear the second life gets hard or inconvenient. But hard seasons are exactly when people need support the most. The girls, the gays, the soft hearts, the weirdos, we need to look out for each other. We were never meant to survive everything alone. And honestly, one thing I’ve learned lately is that if someone truly cares about you, they don’t just vanish when your life falls apart. Real friendship isn’t only for the fun, easy, shiny chapters. It’s showing up when someone is overwhelmed, displaced, grieving, burnt out, struggling, messy, exhausted or not “fun” to be around. (And people who are in relationships, I’m pointing the finger at you) You don’t have to save people. But checking in matters. Dropping off food matters. Sitting beside someone in their hardest chapter matters. Anyway… feed your friends. Check on your people.
