😘 Kiss tight hamstrings goodbye with this simple mini-lengthening/activation flow. Tight hamstrings can create various issues with movement and overall posture, affecting both your day-to-day life and/or athletic performance and daily life. Here are some problems that can arise due to tight hamstrings: 1. Altered Movement Patterns: Tight hamstrings can limit your range of motion, particularly in activities that require bending at the waist or knee movement. This can alter the way you move and make certain activities more difficult or awkward. 2. Postural Problems: Hamstrings play a crucial role in maintaining the proper alignment of the pelvis and the lower back. When hamstrings are tight, they can pull down on the pelvis, leading to a flat lower back (loss of the normal lumbar curvature) which rounds the upper back and shoulders contributing to poor posture and back pain. 3. Increased Injury Risk: Limited flexibility and mobility increase the risk of strains and tears during physical activities. It can also contribute to other injuries, such as runner's knee or lower back pain by putting undue stress on those areas or compensatory strain on other muscle groups throughout the body. 4. Impaired Athletic Performance: In sports that require high levels of flexibility or sudden movements, tight hamstrings hinder performance. They limit the length of your stride and slow down your movements, which can reduce your speed and agility. 5. Compensation by Other Muscles: When the hamstrings are tight, other muscles may need to work harder to compensate for the reduced mobility. This can lead to overuse injuries in those muscles. For example, the quadriceps might be overstressed during running or jumping, potentially leading to imbalances and injuries. This is the second and third step in my process of restoring function, lengthening, and activating. Listen to your body. Don’t push or force through anything.
I’ll be breaking these 4 exercises down in depth over the next 4 days. Turn on notifications so you don’t miss it! :) If you need more help, I have more videos on this page or I’ve got a detailed online program - whichever works best for you. 🤝❤️ #flexibility #fyp
