@halimah_toh_gentle: Many of us pray every day but still don’t know the meaning of what we recite in ruku, sujud, tashahhud and attahiyat. Learning the meanings helps your heart connect more deeply to salah, not just your tongue repeating words. In ruku we say: “Subḥāna Rabbiyal ‘Aẓeem” — “Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great.” In sujud we say: “Subḥāna Rabbiyal A‘lā” — “Glory be to my Lord, the Most High.” Look at the beauty of Islam: You lower yourself to the ground while praising Allah who is the Most High. 🤍 Tashahhud / Attahiyat: “At-taḥiyyātu lillāhi waṣ-ṣalawātu waṭ-ṭayyibāt. As-salāmu ‘alayka ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh. As-salāmu ‘alaynā wa ‘alā ‘ibādillāhiṣ-ṣāliḥīn. Ashhadu an lā ilāha illallāh, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan ‘abduhū wa rasūluh.” Meaning: “All compliments, prayers and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.” Don’t be satisfied with just memorizing Arabic alone. Learn the meanings too. A prayer prayed with understanding touches the heart differently. May Allah make us among those who establish salah with sincerity, concentration, and understanding. Ameen.
