I get why people believed that thousands of years ago. If you look at a winding mountain range, it can resemble a giant serpent or dragon. But resemblance isn’t evidence. Today we understand how mountains form through plate tectonics, uplift, volcanic activity, and erosion. We can measure these processes happening, date the rocks, and trace the geological history over millions of years. The fact that a mountain looks like a dragon is no more proof that it was once a dragon than a cloud looking like a dog proves it was once a dog. Similar shapes can occur naturally. Ancient stories are fascinating and often contain symbolism and cultural wisdom, but that doesn’t mean they are literal historical records.
