Great advise. I was lucky enough to believe this my whole career. I was good enough to make enough to do the things I wanted to do on my free time. When I retired I just did what I wanted all the time. The worst advice to give kids is “do what you love”, better to “do what you can stand that makes enough money to do what you love”

Just passing through…. Love this. I retired 8 months ago and had no idea how ready I was. Focus moves now to what you want to “pass through” next.

So true! Not as easy as I thought. I’ve enjoyed getting to know my grandchildren more and enjoying who I am. But…..can’t believe Fedex still exists after I retired 🤣#passing through

Pre 65 retiree checking in! I retired at 57 from the financial services industry (35 years). It’s important to realize we all have a shelf life. The early phase of retirement takes adjustment then you figure it out!

I am plus one year. I like it so much. And I feel like it takes 2 years to hit your stride in retirement if you liked and/or connected with your job. I look forward to every single day.

Well spoken! Your job is what you do not who you are… unfortunately confusing those two philosophy’s is what causes the most amount of pain in a period that can bring the most amount of joy and contentment in life.
