His false assertions are easily checked. Has Sunderland suddenly relocated abroad? And where does he think Brompton bikes are made? Perhaps he should also think back to the costs of the raw materials, and if they are easily available in England, or whether perhaps manufacturing is moving to where tariffs are easier to deal with and running costs are lower?

International trade benefits all parties if countries specialise in producing goods with lower opportunity costs, rather than only goods they produce most efficiently (absolute advantage). It proves that even if one nation is less efficient at producing everything, it can still gain by exporting goods where its efficiency disadvantage is smallest.
