when I was a server I had one table that just ... would not let me leave. they would not stop talking to me about anything and everything. everytime I tried to excuse myself from the conversation "alright it was nice speaking with you, I need to get back to work, have a great day!" (their meal was done and paid) they started talking again. meanwhile they were preventing me from getting to a table that was sat. took me 15 minutes to get these people to let me walk away. their tip was small and not worth that conversation and the other table they delayed service to ended up not tipping because the other table wouldn't let me leave to greet them.

Not to long ago I had one of my tables walk up to me while I was at another table taking an order. I told him that doing that was extremely rude, and that I’d be over to his table when I was finished. Mind you, I check on them RIGHT BEFORE going to take the new tables order.
