@Kareen Mads: Hi, I just want to share something that helped us before. My brother also had a tracheostomy and couldn’t speak, but he was conscious and could understand us. What I did was the alphabet method. I would say the letters one by one, and when I reached the correct letter he would close his eyes. I would write the letters on paper so I wouldn’t get confused, and little by little we could spell the words he wanted to say. It really helped us communicate. Maybe this could help you too. Sending prayers to both of you. 🙏
