You know your LO! You KNOW when something is wrong. You KNOW their recent behaviors indicate that their actions are not typical. When you know it’s not them, It’s time to get help. The early signs of dementia may vary from person to person, but you will see signs of memory loss that impact their daily routine and life. What it looks like: 🚨Confusion: They don’t know where they are or lose track of dates. Mommy couldn’t remember how to get home one day, even though we lived in a small town. 🚨Memory loss: They forget events, how to do certain things, or repeat themselves. Mommy used to call me and ask me what my number was so she could 👉🏾CALL ME! 🚨Changes in personality or behavior: you may see depression or withdrawal. Mommy used to tell me she felt sad sometimes. 🚨Difficulty with tasks: Mommy could not remember how to make her FAMOUS dressing (stuffing) for dinner. 😩 🚨Problems with language: Words with Mommy became, “You know what that is, that thing, or you know what I’m talking about!” 🚨Accusations: Mommy would accuse people of doing things, and I KNEW it wasn’t their character. The stories were so real that she had me thinking it was true. 😩 When you see the signs, gently encourage your LO to schedule an appointment. Ask if you can accompany them. Hey, Mom/Dad, I would love to spend some time with you. Do you mind if I go to your appointment with you? NOT 👉🏾You’re forgetting, you need to make an appointment to your doctor. I am aware there are some outliers and some of your LOs don’t go to the doctor. It’s fear!!! They know something is wrong. Encourage, support, and love on them. If you can’t get them to the doctor right away, start implementing strategies. For more information, visit incaseiforgetconsulting.com #dementia #alz #care #caregiving #caregivingsupport #alzheimers
