What tha helly?? I’m in Texas and adopted several pets from shelters and I’ve never dealt with this. That’s crazy.

I 100% agree with you. my aunt who has an excellent home, her and her husband are retired, theyve had multiple pets, even adopted ones who had a questionable history and they were denied... I understand they have good intentions but they are sometimes too stringent.

Agree with all of this. And then they charge $400 to adopt the animal. Thankfully our local shelter is not like that. I do wish they were open admittance though. They also need better pet retention programs. But our shelter is donation funded so they can’t do it all. The volunteers and fosters are treated very well.

I don’t disagree that I think a lot of rescues are adoption prohibitive with their screening process. However, I think removing all the barriers is also not the right decision. I think there needs to be happy, medium of intelligent filtering of Doctor. Because not everybody understands what a dog cat means. And therefore, all that you’re doing in placing a dog into that situation, it’s delaying adding to the welfare crisis. There needs to be a more realistic expectation of adopters. Along with educating them to do better. But looking back at 5-10 years of of that history and requiring a fenced in yard and those worth of things I think is a bit over the top. However, landlord approval is a basic review. If you are not permitted to own a dog or a cat and you are adopting one that animal is going to just come back or if you put out on the street at some point. So that is not appropriate either in my opinion.
