@tetonraptorcenter_wy: Did you know we spend over $12,000 on food every year for our patients and ambassador birds? Of course, these raptors don’t need to pay room and board. As the summer season picks up and we start to receive more juvenile raptors, they will eat every hour to 3-4 times a day depending on their development! A meal for one baby typically costs us $4. That amount 3-4 times a day adds up to $12-16. Typically, babies can come in a group so feeding a whole bunch of babies that many times adds up💰 Although these resources are priceless for the raptors, our grocery bill is high! Keeping everyone well fed is essential for healing, growth, and nutrition. Even our avian ambassadors, who stay with us 365 days a year, eat a a few mice per day.
